In the parking lot of the hotel is a large sign: “4 star hotel and gastronomy”, what we experienced here is terrible.
Their website is nicely built. It exudes luxury, you feel like going and everything sounds promising. Until you set the first foot in the building and you arrive at the reception, a table next to the bar. We booked here more than 4 months in advance for 2 rooms next to each other, which we didn’t get for a stupid reason attached to it. We got an old room and a new room. The new rooms are nice, but not practical and the defects are clearly visible. When you take a shower, the water is on the carpet in the hallway. If you take the lid off the shower, there is a lot of hair in it that hides everything. The question is, how is it cleaned there? The old room was a disaster, the doors of the terrace didn’t close, the bathroom where you can’t take a full shower, broken tiles, old-fashioned, creaky beds, old doors, plastic sliding doors, old toilet, etc…
On arrival we decided to have a drink in the garden. We waited a very long time (not only us) for someone to come. A very old gentleman who was practically inaudible served us (my Orval was lukewarm). The restaurant was a disaster! Chaotic service, substandard price/quality, incompetent and unfriendly restaurant staff. We repeat, it said “Gastronomy” in the parking lot. Here’s our experience: an amuse dish arrived, the hall master announces an eel mousse, the waiter a salmon mousse. Scampis were served for the kids, chewy scampi – sauce had no taste, not visually appealing either. We got a dish where the flavors didn’t match at all: smoked salmon with foie gras (without a pinch of coarse salt) with a vegetable mixture and fruit. Dry, no seasoning or vinaigrette. The children’s main courses and our main course : dried out chicken, with tasteless chips, the ointment of sweet potato and vegetables, no seasoning. Sauce was still ok. For dessert, a crème au beurre cake with a glass of white chocolate mousse, which has become completely warm by standing and again no taste at all. Not to mention the service of all this: never asked if it tasted, no explanation, throw drinks on the table and walk away, dishes arrived while we were still working on the previous one, etc… A true disaster!
Addressed the owner when checking out. As a neutral travel website, I do not accept “discounts”.
Our tip : spend your money elsewhere.
