Restaurant located right next to the “Hôtel du Parc ***” in Ath (also a review is available from the hotel). Ideally located if you don’t want to go out looking for something to eat, of course. At the reception of the hotel, this restaurant was hailed as “best restaurant in Ath”. We have serious reservations about this …
Large building, quite a few seats, sober interior, a bit more luxurious and the menu sounds promising. Friendly welcome, not overly friendly because it was quite busy. What you could immediately notice is that the regular customers received more attention than the rest. Wine was not served to us, bread was not added to us, etc.
As a bite we got a piece of pate and a cauliflower soup. Nothing wrong with a piece of pate, the cauliflower soup, on the other hand, was not spiced at all. Unfortunately, our main courses were not up to standard. Each dish was served with the same undercooked vegetables and the sauces were tasteless. The cuissons were pretty ok. We ended with a sabayon, which was inedible as it only tasted like wine (and we left that one too). The moelleux was very simplistic and not qualitative either.
We were certainly disappointed. Our tip for you? Ath town center with numerous restaurants is a 5-minute walk away with plenty of restaurants for each wallet.
